Driving in Japan — Required Documents at Pickup

Customers must present the following at pickup:

• Your passport
• A valid driver’s credential (one of the following):
  • An International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention with your national driver’s license
  • For drivers from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Taiwan, Monaco, or Slovenia: your national driver’s license plus an official Japanese translation (issued by JAF or an embassy)
  • A valid Japanese driver’s license
• A credit card under the main driver’s name (required for the deposit)

If you are unable to present valid documents at the time of pickup, the rental cannot proceed and the booking fee will be non-refundable.
